A stub, not a funnel

LocalTakehome started from a specific annoyance. Paycheck calculators bury the city, blend every tax into one bar, and ask for an email before they show the number. The job is simpler than that: name each withholding, show the deposit, and let the person keep the math.

The design is a paper ledger on purpose. Hairline rules, a large net, and a source under the line. No stock photography, no fake reviews, no chat window pretending to be a CPA.

Corrections

There is no support inbox and no invented email address. Rate corrections belong on the methodology page, next to the sources. If you are adding a city for yourself, the local JSON file is the template: an id, a state, a method, a rate, a source URL, and a last-verified date.

Embed

A page can show the calculator without the site chrome by adding ?embed=1 to any calculator URL. The math is the same. The frame still runs in the visitor’s browser. Example:

Do not wrap the frame in an email gate. The estimate is the product.
