Ohio

Ohio paycheck calculator

In 2026 Ohio’s state income tax is 2.75% on nonbusiness income above $26,050. A personal exemption still comes off first, and it shrinks as income rises: $2,400 at lower incomes, $2,150, then $1,900, then nothing above $500,000. Joint filers are modeled with two exemptions. The state bill on a middle salary is modest. The city bill often is not.

Ohio cities tax qualifying wages where you work. Columbus and Cleveland are both 2.5% in this file, and a traditional 401(k) is removed from that municipal base, unlike Philadelphia. If you live in one city and work in another, a credit usually prevents full double taxation. This estimate applies only the city you select. It will overstate the total if you are quietly owed a credit.

Hundreds of other municipalities are not named. If yours is 2% or 1.5% or something else, put that figure in the custom local field. Do not leave Columbus selected just because it was the example. The state page starts with no city, on purpose.
